National Election Committee Signs MOU with Etisalat

The UAE National Election Committee (NEC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Etisalat to establish a strategic information technology (IT) and communications partnership. The agreement is aimed to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to link voting centres during the Federal National Council elections scheduled for the 24th of September 2011.
The MoU was signed in Abu Dhabi today between His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs, Member of the NEC and Chairman of the Election Management Committee, and Mr Jamal Saeed S. Al Nuaimi, Etisalat’s General Manager for Abu Dhabi Region.
His Excellency Sami Bin Adi, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and member of the Election Management Committee was also present on the occasion.
Under the MoU, Etisalat will provide a comprehensive range of information technology (IT) and communication solutions as required by NEC, in addition to linking the voting centres electronically to ensure effective communication during the voting process.
Etisalat will also deploy qualified technical staff at the voting centres to ensure that the network and devices function without any interruption. It will also provide Wide Area Network (WAN) and IP connectivity as required at all voting centres.
"The National Election Committee looks forward to completing all preparations at the voting centres to ensure an unprecedented election experience that will be hailed as another achievement for the UAE,” said His Excellency Lootah.
"Etisalat was chosen as our partner because of the expertise and human resources it has built as a leading communications services provider. Through this MoU we seek to establish a strategic partnership as the FNC elections represent a unique national project which needs massive support from everyone”.
Mr. Jamal Al Nuaimi added: “The MoU with NEC reflects our strategy to partner with and support all UAE federal government authorities. Etisalat will allocate all required resources, including technology tools and infrastructure, to ensure the success of this national campaign.”
