Tariq Hilal Lootah was appointed Director General of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs in March 2006. He is responsible for managing, developing and implementing the Strategic Plan of the Ministry in line with the UAE Government Strategy.
His duties as Director General also include coordination and follow-up between the Federal National Council, the Government and the Ministry Strategic Plan, as well as enhancing political participation in the United Arab Emirates through awareness campaigns and partnership with the media.
Lootah is also the CEO of Dubai School of Government, responsible for managing the college that aims at promoting principles of governance and shaping UAE and Arab youth skills in public policy making. The college is a leading research and education institution that focuses on public policy in the Arab world.
Lootah graduated from George Washington University, Washington D.C. with a BA in Business Administration, majoring in International Business. His efficiency, hard work, dedication, leadership, management skills and knowledge of human resources have enabled him to occupy senior positions and earn wide recognition in the public sector.
Lootah has earlier held several leadership positions in the private sector, including Board member, Vice President of Training and Development Centre, and Director of Employment Committee in Dubai Islamic Bank as well as Assistant Director for Planning & Development and Director of Business Sector Development in the Department of Economic Development in Dubai. He was instrumental in setting up the Dubai Export Development Corporation and the development of home-based business mechanism in the UAE besides playing a vital role in the Credit Authority and Dubai Statistics Centre. He also contributed to business sector growth while serving as business development manager in the Dubai Chamber.
Lootah also serves on a number of inter-ministerial committees including the UAE Committee to Monitor Issues that impact the Reputation of the UAE. He was also a member of the National Election Committee and head of the Election Management Committee in 2006.
